 80s Night

FUN DAY (August 31st)

The photographs of previous productions have now been relocated in the rehearsal room.  Unfortunately one photo is missing: Ali Baba (2001), which was last seen on the wall of the lounge.  If anyone knows the whereabouts of/or comes across it please tell a committee member.  We are very anxious to find it.

We are attempting to build up our history page, so if anyone has programmes, photos, press cuttings, anecdotes etc., we would be very pleased to see them for possible inclusion.

NEWS OF MEMBERS

In August, Chloe and Jade took part in a week long reenactment called 1642: Flashpoint, set during the (2nd) English Civil War.  They played two puritan girls, Sarah and Ann, who worked as servants in the kitchen to cook the midday meal (always pottage, with coney (rabbit), pigeon etc.).    Only ingredients which were used in 1642 could be used.  Chloe became involved in solving a murder mystery and won the award for the person remaining most in character for the week.  Jade took the opportunity to acquire a range of 17th century craft skills.

The reenactment took place at Northcourt Manor, Shorwell, which is not normally open to the public.  A very modest entrance fee allowed visitors to return as often as they wished throughout the week and many turned up every day to follow the plot and enjoy the weather.  Quite apart from the show this was a very rare opportunity to view the very fine and extensive gardens with spectacular views of the southern coast of the Island and of the Needles.  The event was in aid of Island charities.

LATEST NEWS: We have just heard that the reenactment is all on again for next August.  It's at Northcourt Manor and will be set in 1643. If anyone would like to take part look at the Church, State and Household website on the recommended sites page or email Chloe or Jade who will give you the organizer's contact details and full details of the event.
